Awards Banquet

The date for the awards banquet has changed.  It will be held Saturday, November 9th at IQSR member Dustin Hineman's house.  Dustin's address is 6855 N. 200 W, Greenfield, IN 46140. You can see a map and get directions by clicking here. We will have food at 12:00 pm followed by the awards presentation.  We will also have discussion about the club leadership going forward, so it is important that as many of the members are there as possible.  Please RSVP to me at and let me know if you will be able to join us, so I have an idea of how much food we might need.  I have burgers and hot dogs left from the NCS and Tri-State races, so we will grill those.  If anyone would like to bring a covered dish, please do.  If you plan to do that, please include what you might bring with your RSVP.

Thanks again to all the racers for a very good season.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the awards banquet.

Race #7

The last night race of the season is over, and it was another great night of racing at IMS.  Lap Times are posted, and points have been updated.  I figured in the throwouts for all classes except SLM.  We can discuss what you guys want to do as far as throwouts go, since we have not ran the cars on two occasions now.

The following is a post that Cookie put on Hobbytalk today.  As someone that has ran the booth, I can tell you that it is a very difficult job at times, and I support the decision that Cookie made with regard to the finishing order of the Sportsman A-main.  At the end of the day, once the race director makes a decision regarding throwing a caution, right or wrong, we must go with the results as they happened after the decision was made.  It was a tough call for sure, but no one wants to see the races finish under caution.

It was Another SUPERB evening of racing at The Mini Madhouse as it lived upped to its name on the last corner of the night.
Sprint Car was the Holloway show bit the rest of you did a hell of a job battling for all 100 laps. Would also like to congratulate Kevin Ligon on that heat won..Nice job 4
Limited could have been won by 7 of the 8 drivers as the 60 gets the hard luck of the night award. Congrats to our Point Leader Mike Little on another hard fought win . Brad Boling came home 2nd and in only his 2nd race ever Will Nicole rounds out top 3. Also like to say Congrats to the #0 of Ken Leiker for getting himself a heat win. I have had my eye on the 0 and he continues to get better week after week.
Now Sportsman..Todd (Kyle) Holloway and Jeff Grahn won both rounds of their respected heat. This does not tell the whole story. Racing was FREAKN AWESOME.
Todd led most of the main but without question all 9 drivers had the car to won this sucker.
OK to the final lap.Point leader Frank Bowling was leading followed by Holloway. As they took the white flag a lead lap car spun coming off turn 4 and a car that was laps down and spun simultaneously. I DID NOT THROW THE YELLOW. I had 5 secs to make a decision
Both cars got going and were crossing start finish as leaders hit turn 3.They were out of harms way so I allowed the race to continue. The 2 drove in toooooo deep and sent the leader up into the infamous pit road point.Race Over 2 and 15 to the tail
This hands the win to the #8 of Dave Brawner who got his FIRST EVER Sportsman Win.I say handed but that 8 car was the best I have ever seen it and was strong all day.Congrats Snake
2nd goes to Ron (The Post Man ) Strubbe who was also very good all day and I believe comes home with his best Sportsman finish.Steve Riddle takes 3rd. The 38 could not get back to the finish line so Frank Boiling comes home forth buy with Riddle Not being points eligible the 15 will receive 3rd place points.
I hate to see a guy lose won like this and to see a guy get his first like this.IT IS WHAT IT IS. I stand behind my call on the last lap and my decision today
Thank you to all that came out and put on another GREAT SHOW.
Tina once again a flawless job and thank you for your dedication to our club............6

Next up is the NCS race at IMS.  Track will be open for practice all day Thursday, and we will run the Heat races Friday.  We finish up with the Mains on Saturday.

Thanks once again to Cookie and Tina for running the show.

NCS Race #5 at Ingalls Motor Speedway

We are less than a week away from Round 5 of the 2013 NCS Series at Ingalls Motor Speedway.  We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of close, short track racing at the Mini-Madhouse.  Click here for a schedule of events for the weekend.

We would like to remind everyone to be respectful of the park we call home.  Please watch your speed as you enter.  We need you to park as close to the gravel as possible, and park starting from the Restrooms going back toward the track, and then on around toward the entrance.  There is lots of room behind the scoring shack as well.  The town has done some new construction in the grass outside of turns 3 and 4, so we will not be able to park cars in that area this year.  Also, the town has told us that they will no longer allow us to have overnight camping in the park.

On behalf of IQSR, we look forward to seeing you all at the track.  Thanks in advance for your support of the sport, as well as our local track.

Points are updated

Race #6 is in the books.  We had 33 cars across the 4 classes.  It was a great day for racing, and the competition was very tight.  The finish of the sprint car race was something to see.  Bill Herzog edged Todd Holloway to capture the checkers.  Jeff Grahn takes the win in the Sportsman Class, while Chris Brawner brought home the victory in the Busch Class.  Bill Herzog made it 2 for 2 by taking the win in the SLM.

See you at the next race on August 10th, which will be the last night race of the season.

Points and lap times have been updated.  I will start using throw outs after the next race.

Thanks to Cookie and Tina for running another great show.

Thanks again to Cookie and Tina for running a great show!

Click on the points tab above to see the updated points.  Congrats to the winners, Jeremy Brawner in Sprints, Brad Boling in Bush, Frank Boling in Sportsman, and John Foster in SLM.  Thanks to all the racers that braved the rain and stuck it out for some of the best racing at the Madhouse this year.

It looks like it is going to be a great evening for racing tomorrow, and I regret that I will be in Lafayette all day working, so I will likely not be able to make it out to track.  Thanks in advance to Cookie and Tina for taking care of the booth and running the show.  Good luck to everyone.

2013 NCS Race #3 at Newton Park

This past weekend, NCS Race #3 was ran in Lakeville, IN at Newton Park.  I was personally not able to attend the race, but I understand that QSAC put on a great show for them.  IQSR would like to extend a thank you and congratulations to Bob Louk for organizing a great event.  Fred Murry, Todd Holloway, Dave Dygon, Keith Barnes and all the others that pitched in and help set up the track also deserve the thanks of all QSAC members as well.  The race was great exposure to our sport, and these guys and others have all been a big part of growing the sport in the Midwest.  Click the link below to check out some local news coverage of the event.  Lastly, a shout out to the Madhouse Race Director Team of Jason and Tina for running a great show.

I have also posted the lap times for the race under the Times tab above.

Can't wait to see all of the cars and racers at the Madhouse in August!

Tomorrows Race is Cancelled due to weather.

After much consideration, I have decided to postpone tomorrow's race.  I have been monitoring the weather all week, and there is a 65-70% chance of rain, depending on which site you look at.  IQSR policy is to postpone events when there is a 50% or greater chance of rain.  I was going to wait until morning and check again, but I don't believe things are going to be any different then.  It has basically been the same all week, and looking at the radar out west, it is heading this way.  The rain make up for this race will be Sept. 28th.

Race #2 Results

Race #2 results and points are posted.  We had a first time winner in the Bush Series, congratulations to Mike Little on his first victory at the Madhouse.  Todd Holloway took the checkers in the Sprint Car and Sportsman classes.  We didn't have enough Late Models to run the class, so this will not count as a race for them.  Click on the Points and Times tabs above for the full race results.

Thank you to all the racers for coming out on a chilly afternoon to run with us.  I appreciate everyone making an effort to stay off the grass with vehicles.  We actually had plenty of room, and I think as long as we make an effort to maximize the use of the gravel, we are going to be able to accommodate everyone who wants to run at the Madhouse this year, in spite of the new requirement that we keep off the grass with vehicles.

The next race at the Madhouse is June 1st, and it will be the first night race of the season.  Tentatively we will start the first heats at 3 pm, but I will confirm that in the days to come.  Thanks to Cookie and Tina for running a great show.

2013 Race #1 Results, points, and lap times are posted

Race #1 of the 2013 season is in the books.  We had 37 cars for the season opener, with racers traveling from as far away as New Jersey to race at the Madhouse.  We truly have one of the premier racing clubs in this country, and I am proud to be a part of IQSR.

Matt Hilber took the wins in the Sportsman and Super Late Model races.  Jeremy Brawner took home the checkers in the Sprint Car race, and Gregg Grahn takes the season opener in the Bush Class.  Congrats to all the winners.  I don't have photos of the winners this week.

I will send out an email update on the situation with the Park as soon as I have more information.

I want to send out a big thank you to Cookie and Tina for taking over the booth for me this year.  It is a big responsibility, and I really appreciate them doing this for me and for the club.

Our next scheduled race is May 11th.  Bring mom out to the track and celebrate mothers day with us at the Mini-Madhouse!

Track Clean up tomorrow is cancelled

Since we are basically down to painting, and it is not going to be warm enough to paint tomorrow until early afternoon at best (if at all), we are going to postpone the second clean up day to a later date.  Hopefully the weather will be kinder next weekend, and we can get some racing in.  I am sure there are a few of you that will be glad to get back to some grip.

Please let anyone you know that may not see this or the email I am sending out.

See ya next weekend.

Track Clean up

Howdy racers,

The season is upon us, and the first activity at the track is scheduled for this weekend.  I was out there a couple weekends ago, and have come up with a list of things that we should try and address:

1.  Paint the drivers stand.
2.  Linseed oil on the stairs and floor of the drivers stand, as well as the handicapped stand.
3.  Replace several broken sections of walls.
4.  Paint the walls.
5.  Repaint the lines on the track.
6.  Clean up, weed, and mulch around the bleachers and scoring shack.

As you can see, it is going to be a busy couple of weekends to complete all of that, and I am sure we will find some other things that need addressed as well.  With that said, we could use all the help we can get.  I know there is a race over at BMI this weekend, and that some of you are heading over, but if not, please come out and help get our track ready for the season.  It may be a little chilly to paint this Saturday, but we will also have another clean up day on April 20th, so hopefully we can get some decent painting weather one of those two days.

I am planning on being at the track at 10 am on Saturday, I hope to see all of you there.

2013 Schedule

Hello racers.  The 2013 Schedule is complete, and is posted on the site.  Just click on the Schedule tab above.  I think this schedule will allow any of the IQSR members who are part of the IRL series to run for a points championship at Ingalls this year, as I was able to get 8 out of the 9 races on the IRL off weekends.  The schedule also shows the Tri-State dates, as well as the NCS Race dates.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season, I am looking forward to warmer weather and getting back to the Mini-Madhouse.
