Club Race #5 Results

It was a beautiful day at IQSR, as the weather was absolutely perfect for racing yesterday for Club Race #5. 19 drivers in 4 divisions were looking to get their picture taken in the Mini Madhouse's victory lane yesterday. Some of the cleanest racing I have witnessed at the Madhouse made for a very exciting day.

The Sprint Car Class had a field of four qualifying for the show and they were all very fast. J.R. Parsley just missed the track record by 3 one hundredths of a second with a time of 5.72. Brad Boling was 2nd quick with a 5.77, Bill Herzog qualified 3rd and Jerry Brawner's motor sounded a little off as he was 4th. The 2 heat races determined the lineup for the feature, it was Parsley on the pole, Brawner started behind him, Herzog was 3rd and Boling did not start. Those 3 ran the entire race exactly like that as Parsley held on for the win, Brawner was 2nd, and Herzog ran 3rd. The entire field crossed the line for the 50 lap feature within 6 tenths of second.

In Limited Sportsman we had 3 drivers trying for a win. Chris Stump has been the man to beat and he started on the pole for this A Main. Mike Jennings started 2nd and Dave Hamstra rounded out the 3 cars. Stump would lead all 50 laps to take the win. Jennings tried everything he could to pass Stump and almost pulled it off on a couple of restarts. He finished 2nd and Hamstra was 3rd.

In ECM, Tony Wachter has been the one to beat and he continued his dominance and started from the pole for the A Main. Bill Herzog started 2nd and was attempting a triple on today's card and he is a solid wheelman no matter what he drives. Ken Leiker started 3rd and John Wachter rounded out the 4. Tony Wachter continued his winning streak and led every lap of the feature. Herzog had the faster car, but could not get Tony to make a mistake for the pass. Leiker was a solid 3rd place and John Wachter retired early for a 4th place finish.

The Sportsman field had 8 cars and did not disappoint. Any of the 8 could have brought this one home and was a super field of very experienced and solid drivers. Bill Herzog was on the pole for the feature and looked very sharp. He commanded the race until lap 21, as he got loose off of turn 2 and spun by himself and had to go to the tail. Chris Hogue started in 2nd and inherited the lead as it looked like he would not be caught. Some cautions by drivers in the back of the field kept the 8 cars very bunched up and allowed Herzog to battle back and retake the lead on lap 68. Herzog held on for the victory, and Hogue finished in 2nd place. Walt Arthur was 3rd, John Foster 4th, Tony Wachter took 5th, Jerry Brawner 6th, John Wachter 7th and Scott Rance was 8th. All 8 cars finished on the lead lap in the 100 lap Main Event and the battle up front was truly amazing. There is no doubt why we always run this race last at IQSR as it is the best race of the day. Fantastic job to all 8 drivers in this one!

Our next race is a night race schedule on Aug. 26th, good luck to all racers going up to Lansing, MI in 2 weeks for the 2nd leg of the Tri- State Series.

QSAC Nationals Results

Several of our IQSR Club Members attended The QSAC Nationals last week in Clover, SC at Lakeside Speedway. It was an exciting event that combined 3 races to determine a champion in each of the 4 class divisions in QSAC. There was a total of 69 entries from all over the United States racing on this very large, super fast, 1/10 mile paved oval track.

IQSR proved once again we have the toughest open wheel racers in the Nation! Club Member Todd Holloway won the Sprint Car division along with fellow members J.R. Parsley and Kevin Ligon taking third and fourth in the overall standings.
In the East Coast Modified division we had IQSR Club Member's bring home some hardware as well. Tony Wachter had a third place and Todd Holloway had a fourth place in the overall standings in this division.
The IQSR Club also finished 2nd place in the QSAC Cup award challenge. This award was determined from total points accumulated from every driver from each individual QSAC Club that was represented there. Congratulations to all IQSR Club Members that attended this event!

Our next race at Ingalls Motor Speedway is this Saturday! It is a night race schedule, so the track is open for practice at Noon, group qualifying is at 3pm, and racing starts at 4pm. See you there!

Herzog doubles up, Wheatley and Wachter also get their pictures taken in victory lane at the Mini Madhouse!

We had 20 cars in 4 divisions for Club Race #4 at Ingalls Motor Speedway for a beautiful day of racing yesterday. With The QSAC Nationals only a week away and other series racing that day it was still a great turnout for a club race at IQSR. Thank you to everybody that showed up to race with us yesterday.

Sprint Car
We had 4 Sprint Cars for some of the best racing we have seen this year at the Mini Madhouse. J.R. Parsley was your top qualifier with a 5.76 lap time followed by Bill Herzog with a 5.80, Brad Boling had a lap time of 5.82 and Jerry Brawner with a 5.87. With all 4 drivers so close, it made for some unbelievable open wheel racing action. Herzog was best in the heat races and started on the pole for the A Main. It didn't take long for the jockeying to start as all 4 had a chance to win. There was even a 3 wide battle for the lead midway thru the race as you could throw a blanket over the 4 cars. Boling was the first one out on lap 65 and had to settle for 4th. The other 3 battled the last 35 laps as Herzog was the most consistent and managed to take the victory. Brawner and Parsley crossed the finish line side by side for a photo finish. Brawner got the nod for 2nd place as Parsley settled for 3rd.

Limited Sportsman
We had 4 entries in this class yesterday and your favorite was Chris Stump as he was top qualifier. He was also your pole setter for the Main with Gary Wheatley Jr. starting 2nd, Mike Jennings started 3rd and Dave Hamstra started 4th. It was a 2 car race for the win between Wheatley and Stump. They switched positions several times during the 100 lap event. In the end, it was Wheatley taking the win and the heavily favored Stump had to settle for a 2nd place finish. Jennings took a 3rd place podium finish and Hamstra rounded out the 4.

ECM was a tight battle of 3 cars, Tony Wachter was your TQ with a fast lap of 6.07. Followed closely by John Wachter and Ken Leiker. Tony started on the pole for the main and never looked back. He led every lap of the A Main followed by John Wachter for 2nd and Leiker for 3rd. All 3 drivers did a remarkable job for a caution free race.
There was a total of 9 cars battling for the Mini Madhouse victory in Sportsman. Dwight Smith was the TQ with a fast lap of 5.884, Bill Herzog qualified 2nd with a time of 5.899 and Scott Rance was 3rd with a time of 5.908. With the competition so close, any of the 9 drivers could take the win. Herzog was the best in the heat races to grab the all important starting position for the A Main. Herzog put on a clinic and never made one mistake to take the victory. John Foster stayed up front almost all race to take a 2nd place finish. Tony Wachter rounded out the podium for 3rd place, Scott Rance had a great showing in his Sportsman debut for 4th. Dwight Smith was 5th, Jerry Brawner 6th, John Wacther 7th, John Foister 8th, and Steve Riddle DNS for 9th place. Due to the scoring loop break with 30 laps to go, I do not have accurate lap times available. I do know all 8 drivers that started, finished on the lead lap.
Congrats to all our winners! Our next race is July 29th and is a night race event. Feel free to come out and watch this exciting racing as admission is always free.
